There is a Line

The great thing about Western Democracy is that the freedom we enjoy fosters creative thinking and new ideas giving our societies boundless potential.  It’s why we live in nice houses or apartments while others live in mud huts and caves.  Every November 11th we are reminded that freedom isn’t free and that others paid an awful price so that we can continue to enjoy it.

The rationale for going into Afghanistan was ‘fight them over there so that we don’t have to fight them over here’.  Guess what folks?  It’s already started and the West had better take its liberal head out of the sand before it’s too late.  If 9-11 itself, the Toronto 18, the London Subway Bombings or any of the dozens of other foiled terrorist plots haven’t got our attention perhaps what went on in London this Remembrance Day will.

A group calling itself ‘Muslims Against Crusades’ gathered near ceremonies at Hyde Park and set fire to a large poppy.  As if that weren’t enough, as the clock struck 11 they disrupted the 2 minutes of silence by chanting slogans such as “British soldiers burn in hell”, “Islam will dominate”, and “Freedom Go to Hell”.

One of the cornerstones of democracy is freedom of expression but there is a line.  You can’t shout ‘fire’ in a crowded theater, intentionally libel someone, utter death threats, etc.  The line’s been pushed back gradually but steadily over the last few decades in our timid attempts to avoid offending anyone for any reason and it’s high time to re-draw it.

Criticize the government or oppose the war? Fine.  Give aid and comfort to the enemy by calling for the death of British soldiers and the triumph of the enemy in time of war?  Not fine.  In fact, it’s nothing short of Treason particularly on the part of people who come to the West to enjoy our lifestyle and freedoms, and repay our generosity by working to enslave us.  If anyone needs further evidence of where their loyalties lie, Asad Ullah of Muslims Against Crusades said “We want the government to pull the troops out from these countries and to stop interfering in our affairs”.  In case you missed the italicization, he used the word ‘our’ meaning he’s no more British than Bin Laden no matter what citizenship he may have acquired or how much welfare he’s drawn.

Before my liberal friends start hyperventilating and fainting, I’m not painting all Muslims with the same brush.  I’ve always been one of the fiercest critics of the Japanese internments by the US and Canadian governments in World War 2 because it was based solely on race and not on individual acts of disloyalty.  These particular people on the other hand, have not only crossed the line, they’ve trampled and spat upon it, and all veterans in the process.  Like any other cancer it’s time to remove them and I say dump them back in whatever 3rd world cesspool they came from and good riddance.  The UK government should be setting up a ‘repatriation’ flight schedule that would make the Berlin Airlift look like child’s play.  Fill every RAF Hercules with these mutts and if there’s any room left toss in some of those rioting students as well.

If we’re not willing to take a stand on our own soil then there’s absolutely no point losing one more soldier in Afghanistan and we may as well just surrender and be done with it.
