Toronto mayor calls for handgun ban

In the words of Yogi Bera, it's like déjà vu all over again. Mayor Miller's proposal was given the scorn it deserved the last time and will no doubt be accorded the same treatment again. As the old political adage goes, "you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. But you can't fool all the people all the time". While the idea of a handgun ban will no doubt appeal to the Mayor's liberal friends there in the center of the universe, the average Canadian is not nearly as gullible. They see this hypocrisy for exactly what it is and thankfully so.
Liberals have spent the last 4 decades gutting and weakening this country's justice system to the point where gangsters have absolutely no fear of it. They walk around with guns because they can. If they are found in possession of a gun the chances are remote that they will ever do a day in jail. Firstly, despite all the handwringing over handgun violence, they'll be out on bail before the police finish their paperwork. Why, you say? Well, because of the Bail Reform Act. Thanks, Liberals. Secondly, the chances are the search which yielded the gun will be ruled to have violated the gangster's rights under The Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Thanks again, Liberals. Thirdly, in the unlikely event that all of the stars line up just right, the case survives this legal minefield, and the accused is convicted he will more than likely get probation. If the judge is in a really bad mood, brace yourself son, a Conditional Sentence. You see, an amendment to the Criminal Code requires judges to avoid incarceration at almost any cost. Judges really don't have to do this but liberal ones take refuge in this section quite freely. Extra points if you're aboriginal by the way. Thanks again and again, Liberals.
In spite of having some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world we have a situation where outlaws carry guns on the streets of our major cities as a fashion requisite. So who is to blame and what's to be done about it?
According to Mayor Miller guns are to blame and the solution is to ban them from coast to coast. Immediately.
Now remember, this is the shrill left we're dealing with. They're not big on admitting mistakes. So rather than accept any responsibility or at least blame the criminals who have committed these murders (and risk losing a block of traditional Liberal voters) they'd rather penalize and demonize legitimate gun owners who manage to obey the law. After all, most of these guns are manufactured in the Great Satan, south of the 49th. What better target for liberals to deflect blame to?
It never occurs to these people that when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. They never met a criminal they didn't like and couldn't make excuses for.
