Suspected Newman cop killer arrested in Bakersfield

The suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a small-town police officer in Stanislaus County that prompted a statewide manhunt was arrested early Friday in Bakersfield, officials said. (SF Gate)

    Homicide unit investigating two deaths in northwest Calgary

    The Calgary police homicide unit is investigating an incident in the city’s northwest after two people were found dead Friday morning. Officers were called to Stoney Trail and Nose Hill Drive N.W. around 9 a.m. They cordoned off the Stoney Trail bridge above the Bow River, where the homicide team, medical examiner and police investigated a grey Mazda seen parked with its hazard lights still flashing.
