Jump in assaults on Calgary police, transit officers due to meth

A rise in methamphetamine on Calgary’s streets is to blame for a spike in assaults on law enforcement officers, officials say. In Calgary, the police service has reported 151 assaults on its officers through the first six months of 2019. That number alone is an increase over the average of 128 annual assaults on police officers the service reported over the last five years. (Calgary Herald)
