Stabbing arrest

MONTREAL - Just before midnight on Oct. 25, police allege Fernando Ramos Eveillard, 22, and an 18-year-old man got into argument over drugs as they stood next to a bus shelter on Saint-Michel Blvd.  Police allege Eveillard pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man in the upper body before fleeing the scene.  (CBC)

Guilty plea

TORONTO - A man who walked into a busy Toronto public library and fired a crossbow bolt into his father’s back, then crushed his skull in with a hammer, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.  Zhou Fang, now 26, was charged with first-degree murder of Si Cheng, 52, after the shocking afternoon incident on Dec. 2, 2010, inside the Main St library.  (Toronto Star)

BONNYVILLE - RCMP located Mary Jane Corbiere, 76, remains in Kehewin, AB.   RCMP have laid a second-degree murder charge on 19-year-old Jesse Colton Leppanen, of Elk Point. 

Cold case heats up

WINDSOR - Police said at a news conference they have new forensic information in the case of Russell Floyd (Rocky) Cook whose body was found in a ditch with a bullet wound in his chest near Tecumseh, Ont., on Dec. 23, 1977.   (CBC) 


ASSUMPTION - Police are treating the deaths of two people in NW Alberta as a murder-suicide.  Gillian Salopree, 28, and Terrence Ahkimnachie, 26, were found dead in a home in Assumption.  Both had died from gunshot wounds.   PREVIOUS:  2 found dead

Police lay charges

NIAGARA FALLS - While looking into the death of Michael Hindle last August, police found the body of another man at a house on Ferguson Street in Niagara Falls.  An autopsy showed 36-year-old Jason Pizzicarola died of blunt force trauma.  William Burjoski, 43, and Anthony Lococo, 29, have been charged with first-degree murder in his death.  (CTV)

OTTAWA - An Ottawa man found not criminally responsible for the stabbing deaths of his parents and sister 5 years ago was apprehended by police after he walked around his street naked and then locked himself in his home.  Daniel Maxheleau, a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, was arrested March 13, 2005, after the deaths of his parents, Gerald and Louise, and sister, Michelle. 



Killer charged in 1992 homicide

LONDON, ON - A prisoner already serving a life sentence for two Durham Region murders was charged with the 1992 slaying of Lawrence Kitakijick.  Advances in DNA technology linked Roshan Norouzali, 47, to the Kitakijick murder.  At the time of his arrest for Kitakijick’s murder, Norouzali was in Collins Bay Penitentiary serving a life term for the first-degree murders of Pickering carpenter Kenneth Thomas and Oshawa gunshop owner Roger Pardy in 1994.  (Toronto Star)

Guilty pleas to 3 slayings

VICTORIA - Darcy William Kozak entered guilty on two counts of second-degree murder and one of manslaughter. Luc René Dulude, 49, was found in Dec 2008 in Campbell River. Investigators believe Kenneth Allan Leask, 46, was killed in the fall of 2008 near Campbell River. The 3rd victim was Kenneth Robinson, whose body was found in August 2007 near Shawnigan Lake. Teen dies at party

POINTE-A-TOM - Police received a 911 call at about 5am after Michael Alexandre McGraw, of Saint-Isidore, NB, died during an altercation at a party he was attending with friends.  Aldin McLauglin, 63, of Pointe-a-Tom appeared in provincial court to face a second-degree murder charge.  (QMI)

Woman killed

GLEICHEN - Police say 24-year-old Candace Dixon was hit around 7:30am Sunday, just west of Siksika First Nation.  Charges of impaired driving causing death are pending against the 26-year-old man.  (CTV)

STUARTBURN - Four-year-old Dillon Belanger, called Breana by family, was rushed to hospital in Winnipeg from her home in Stuartburn on Sunday.  The young girl died from severe injuries from an assault, said RCMP.  The girl's mother Mary Belanger, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder.   (CTV)

MELVILLE - RCMP and EMS responded to a Toronto Street residence in Melville around 4:20am Saturday and found the 60-year-old deceased. Police have charged Gary Wayne Ross, 55, who police identified as the woman's son, with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in relation to the homicide.

VANCOUVER - A mentally ill woman who killed a 12-year-old autistic boy will spend at least another year locked inside a BC psychiatric institute.  Kimberly Noyes was charged with second-degree murder, but found not criminally responsible in July for the 2009 slaying of John Fulton in Grand Forks, BC.   Noyes's trial established that she stabbed Fulton to death in her townhouse.   (CP)
