Police release video

TORONTO - On Aug. 24, police responded to a gunshots call in the Cather Crescent and Trafford Lane area.  They found Randy Anthony Malcolm, 24, at the rear of 41 Cather Cres suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. He later died in Sunnybrook hospital.  (CTV)

Alleged sister killing

WINNIPEG - The 18-year-old victim, Paige Chelsea Moloi-Straightnose, was stabbed in the chest inside a Winnipeg home shortly after 8pm Friday and died in hospital soon after.  Her sister, 21-year-old Nebula Niome Moloi-Straightnose, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.  (QMI)  MORE:  Sister stabbing

Stabbing victim identified

CALGARY - Calgary police were called to an apartment building in the 1510 21st Ave SW to reports of a stabbing.  An autopsy has been completed and police say Mohammad Ahmed Mahmud, 36, died of a stab wound. CAYUGA - Police say Charles Agbajoh, of Milton, Ont., was killed on Nov. 2, 2008, and his body was found near Hagersville in April 2009.  Elyton Brandon Guy, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder.  (CP)

PEMBROKE - Peter Blaedow, of Laurentian Valley Township, died in hospital following a reported disturbance that brought police to the door of a residence around 4am.  Garry Decker, 28, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.  (CTV)

High-rise death

SASKATOON - A man who did in Saskatoon's 7th homicide of the year has been identified by numerous sources as Anthony Gunn, 23, of the English River First Nation.   The death occurred Aug. 26 at a residence on the 600-block of Ave M S.   Police had been called to the residence because of a reported assault.  PREVIOUS:  Suspicious death

Unfit to stand trial

VERNON - Kenneth Barter, who suffers from schizophrenia, had been facing a 2nd degree murder charge in the death of 32-year-old Nathan Mayrhofer.  Barter admitted to killing Mayrhofer with a hammer and then cutting up his body under the delusion that Mayrhofer was a danger to his father. Mother pleads guilty

CALGARY - Shelby Herchak has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of her 26-day-old son, Daniel.  The pathologist’s report says Daniel had swelling and bruising on his brain.  (CTV)   PREVIOUS:  Mother charged

Suspect live in home for abused

LONDON, ON - Police haven't said whether it was Keeley Dianne Shipway, 18, or Sasha Ireland, 21 - both charged with second-degree murder - living in the second-stage housing apartment building, operated by Women's Community House.  Troy Nicholas, 23, was found stabbed in the parking lot.  Ireland's brother, Fred Doxtator-Ireland, 18, is charged with manslaughter in the death.   (QMI)

Plea bargain

Not naming the dead

EDMONTON - I can't tell you the name of the dead child or of man who killed him.  The province has passed the draconian Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act. That bans us from identifying the slain child and his killer.  In theory, that's to protect the privacy of the dead baby.  

Manslaughter charge

Shooting

TORONTO - 29-year-old Nicolas Kenyon was gunned down in Jamestown on Saturday night and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. Police indicated the man was clearly targeted in the Bleecker St neighbourhood in Toronto.  (MABP)

RED DEER - A Penhold teenager has been killed and his body left by the side of the highway, leaving RCMP, family and friends of Logan Raymond grappling with how the 17-year-old died.

Manslaughter charge

RANKIN INLET - RCMP in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, have charged a man with manslaughter in the death of another man this past weekend.  Abraham Nakoolak has been charged in connection with the death of Donald James (DJ) Gamble, 23, early Saturday morning.  (CBC)

CORTES ISLAND - Stefano Savioli a Cortes Island resident of almost 30 years, was found dead in his home on a large acreage Friday around 8:30am and police suspect foul play.

MONTREAL- A 25-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from the Eastern Townships are to be charged in connection with the death of a man found in a Plessisville motel.  The victim, 65-year-old Rémy Allaire, was killed by a knife.

LONDON, ON - Five-month-old Brookelyn Hopkins was rushed unresponsive to London's Children's Hospital on Aug. 8.  The child died the following day.  OPP have charged Melissa Garland, of Ingersoll, Ont., with failing to provide the necessities of life.   (CTV)

Fatal fire treated as homicide

WINNIPEG - The body of Patrick Gallagher, 90, was found inside the residence on Ash Avenue following a fire on Aug. 6, said RCMP.   An autopsy was carried out on Aug. 7 and determined the victim died from smoke inhalation. (CTV)

PETERBOROUGH - Police collared Etienne Beaulieu, 21, after a massive manhunt that included a police helicopter and heat sensors. The hunt was sparked hours earlier when his mother, Isabel Robitaille, a 49-year-old school teacher, was stabbed at her home. Men charged in fatal rollovers

YUKON - William Gilbert Johnson, 46, has been charged with impaired driving causing death and other charges in connection with the rollover that occurred on Chadburn Lake Road in Whitehorse.  Alex Dickson, 40, of Teslin, Yukon, was declared dead at the scene.  Valentino Vella, 27, of Vancouver was killed when the van he was a passenger in rolled over on the North Klondike Highway.  Christopher John Maxwell-Smith, 25, was charged with impaired driving causing death.  (CBC)

2nd man charged

OXFORD HOUSE -  On July 24, officers received a report of a male who had been seriously assaulted and was found along a roadway on the First Nation.  The victim has been identified as Scott Elvis Bradburn, 30, of Oxford House First Nation, said RCMP.   On July 30, RCMP said Jake Bradburn, 18, had been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death.  Michael Bradburn, 21, also faces a charge of manslaughter for the death.  (CTV)  PREVIOUS:  Teen charged

WINNIPEG - Nicholas Somers, 29, was found not guilty of manslaughter for the July 2010 tragedy at Bar Italia.  Jurors clearly accepted the claim by Somers he acted in self-defence. WINNIPEG - David Boulanger, 28, also known as Divas B, was found murdered on November 4, 2004. CALGARY - A fight that began between two men grew to include 10 to 20 people.  Neither group knew each other.  Bak Joseph Malok, 20, was stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat. KAMSACK - Delbert Warren Whitehawk, 37, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for causing the head injuries that killed Celine Whitehawk on Sept. 21, 2008.  Baby Celine Whitehawk was born addicted to morphine and died just 21/2 months later, by her father's hand, according to the sentencing decision.  Her mother, Lorraine Cote, was in custody awaiting trial at the time.

REGINA - Roland Ruest, 44, was found dead in his home on April 6.  RCMP said that a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after turning himself in to police in Medicine Hat.  That followed the arrest earlier in the week of a 19-year-old man.  (CBC)

MONTREAL - The charred remains of Yvon Leblanc were found inside the trunk of his torched Mercury Cougar car, discovered in a Longueuil industrial park in May 2008.  The 47-year-old man was identified through his dental records, and police later confirmed he was killed inside his apartment building on Séguin St. in Longueuil.  Authorities arrested a 59-year-old man, his 32-year-old daughter and 29-year-old son, all in connection to Leblanc's death.  (CBC)

REGINA - It was a night that ended in tragedy for three teenage friends, leaving one of them dead on the street, his body lit on fire and covered in garbage, and the other two young men behind bars.  The two 17-year-olds charged in the fatal shooting cannot be named because of their ages. The 16-year-old victim also cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 

Plea to lesser charge

WINNIPEG - Travis Arnold Personius, 23, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as the Crown dropped the more serious charge of first-degree murder.  Tyson Kane Roulette, 25, and Lance Leon Myran, 34, are also charged with conspiracy to commit murder and are set to go on trial next year.  Anthony Woodhouse, 29, was gunned down in September 2007.
