OSHAWA - Just before 12:30am, officers got a call for trouble in the victim’s apartment on Wayne Ave in north Oshawa.  When they arrived they found the body of the victim, now identified as Alletta Rusnell, 89, with obvious injuries.  Sharon Baksha, 34, of Oshawa was arrested at the scene and has been charged with second-degree murder.  PREVIOUS:   Woman charged   Murder victim   Victim ID'd

ST CATHARINES - Police were called to Cosby St for an altercation.  Michael Motz, 28, succumbed to his injuries.  Police say charges against Anita Kooger, 45, and Ulysses Alligood, 21, are expected to be upgraded to second-degree murder. (CP)

SASKATOON - Taylor Wolff, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of James Carlson.  Carlson disappeared from the Watrous area in 2008. MISSISSAUGA - Peel police have charged a 32-year-old man after a fatal crash in Mississauga.  Police said the driver of the van tried to run away, but an off-duty officer who saw the crash caught up with him not far away.  Mihajlo Radovanovic has been charged.  (CityNews)

TORONTO - Anthony Smith, 21, was shot and killed outside a Toronto nightclub last March, but his death gained extra notoriety when a photo surfaced of him with Mayor Rob Ford and two alleged gang members.  Hanad Mohamed was originally charged with first-degree murder in Smith’s death, but those charges were later downgraded.  Nisar Hashimi pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault and is serving a 9-year sentence. HOPE - After completing a crime scene investigation at the property on Othello Road where 2 men were found dead, IHIT said they determined one of the men is responsible for both deaths.  Police confirmed the shooting was targeted and that the deceased, Alec Lamb, 26, and Tylor Insley, 29, knew each other.  (CTV)

Repeat offender

MONTREAL - Yan Robitaille-Godin, 32, is a repeat offender for driving while intoxicated.  Marie-Claude Grenon, 53, was crossing Des Seigneurs Blvd. when a truck ran her down Sunday at 5pm. Police say they believe Robitaille-Godin was responsible for the fatal crash and fled the scene without stopping after the woman was struck down.  (CTV)

Impaired charge 

THE PAS - Around 3:45pm on Dec. 21, police and emergency crews were called to a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks on Highway 10.  The driver of one of the trucks, a 63-year-old man from Shoal River First Nation, died at the scene.  RCMP said that John Anthony Ducharme, 44, of Opaskwayak Cree Nation has been charged with impaired driving causing death, and driving while prohibited.  (CTV)  PREVIOUS:   Impaired charges

Fatal crashes

EDMONTON - Alcohol and speed played a role in many of the fatal crashes in Edmonton last year, police say.  Police said Friday that there were 29 traffic fatalities in 2012, resulting in 28 fatal collisions and 49 serious injury collisions.  Of those fatalities, 57% involved speed while 35% involved an impaired driver.   (CTV)
