PRINCE GEORGE - A BC man convicted in absentia in connection with the 2000 death of his young stepson has been arrested.  The court heard that Adam William Dudoward, 13, died in Jan 2000 after his mother, Judy Williams, and Lloyd Cook, her common-law partner at the time, tied him up to a bed in their trailer home.   (CBC)

CEBU - A Canadian man in his 60s opened fire in a courtroom in the Philippines, killing a doctor and a lawyer before shooting and killing himself.  John Pope was at the courthouse in Cebu City Tuesday morning to face a charge of "malicious mischief and grave threat."  Police said they shot Pope in the arm, but he also shot himself in the head after falling to the floor.  MORE:   Shoots 2   Kills 2, self   Accused   Kills 2

MISSISSAUGA - Police were called to 85 Acorn Place around 9:15pm on Jan 13 where they found Vittorio Aiello, 24, suffering from a stab wound.  He died in hospital 2 days later.  Police charged 2 men - David Michael Quinn and Michael Boaheng, both 19 - with first-degree murder. Conviction overturned

IQALUIT - A Nunavut man who was convicted of murder and attempted murder for shooting and killing 3 people and injuring 2 others after they broke into his house has had his convictions overturned.  One January night in 2007, Chris Bishop called RCMP at 3am to report that some men were trying to break down his door. Witness receives death threat

CALGARY - Mitchell Harkes has been found guilty of murdering Brett Wiese, 20, at a Calgary house party in Jan 2013.   The Crown prosecutor argued during the trial that Harkes had returned to the party armed with a knife to get revenge after Jazlyn Radke and her twin sister were kicked out earlier in the evening.  Radke, who also brought a knife back to the party, was found guilty of second-degree murder in May.  (CBC)

HOPE - After completing a crime scene investigation at the property on Othello Road where 2 men were found dead, IHIT said they determined one of the men is responsible for both deaths.  Police confirmed the shooting was targeted and that the deceased, Alec Lamb, 26, and Tylor Insley, 29, knew each other.  (CTV)

Repeat offender

MONTREAL - Yan Robitaille-Godin, 32, is a repeat offender for driving while intoxicated.  Marie-Claude Grenon, 53, was crossing Des Seigneurs Blvd. when a truck ran her down Sunday at 5pm. Police say they believe Robitaille-Godin was responsible for the fatal crash and fled the scene without stopping after the woman was struck down.  (CTV)

Impaired charge

EDMONTON - Alcohol and speed played a role in many of the fatal crashes in Edmonton last year, police say.  Police said Friday that there were 29 traffic fatalities in 2012, resulting in 28 fatal collisions and 49 serious injury collisions.  Of those fatalities, 57% involved speed while 35% involved an impaired driver.   (CTV)
