Manslaughter charges

OTTAWA - OPP have charged the owners of Angry Beaver Bar and Grill with manslaughter after a fatal head on crash back in February.  While bar owners David Stoll and Philip Sztejnmiler were not the ones behind the wheel, they are accused of over-serving a patron who was.  Both drivers, 23-year-old Korin Howes of Belleville and 23-year-old Shaina Harrison of Oshawa, were pronounced dead at the scene.  (CTV)

WINNIPEG - Shawn Lamb admitted in court he killed Lorna Blacksmith and Carolyn Sinclair.  Prosecutors said Lamb confessed to police in June to beating Sinclair with an axe handle and strangling Blacksmith with a TV cord.  The plea deal to 2 counts of manslaughter would see Lamb get 20 years in prison.  The body of a third woman, Tanya Nepinak, was never found. CALGARY - Meredith Borowiec, the woman who left 3 of her newborns in a garbage dumpster, has been given 18 more months in jail and faces 3 years of probation.  The 32-year-old gave birth in 2008 and 2009, but the babies' bodies have never been found. A third child born in 2010 survived when the baby's father unknowingly helped pull the infant out of a neighbourhood trash bin after a passerby heard cries.  (CBC)
