CALEDON - The remains of Van Sanh Tieu, 53, of Dundalk, were found inside the home, which was destroyed in a blaze. VICTORIA - A 41-year-old Victoria man died in hospital from injuries suffered in a violent assault last week.  Jason Robert Van Winkle, 34, of the West Shore, is charged with aggravated assault and is facing more serious charges in relation to the homicide.  The victim was Gilles Alain Thibodeau.  (Victoria Times Colonist)

WINNIPEG - A 66-year-old man was killed in a hit and run on Christmas Eve.  Police say the man - Reginald Blackbird - was hit at about 5:40pm, on Fife Street between Inkster Boulevard and Maple Glen Drive.   Police arrested Christopher Ronald Teebles, 44, on Christmas Day and charged him with criminal negligence causing death and failing to remain at the scene of collision causing death.   (CTV)

EDMONTON - Police in 2010 solved the highest proportion of homicides in years, but arrested more of the city's youth in the process.  There were 27 homicides in Edmonton over the year and police solved 22 of them, for a clearance rate of 81%.  In 2009, investigators solved 66%, and in 2008, it was 31%.  (Edmonton Journal)
