COLD ADAM MANNING

SAM BALANI

New Westminster police have identified the man killed in what they are now calling a targeted homicide.  Sam Balani, 32, was found shot to death in his home at around 6:15am Thursday.  Police responded to a house in the 500-block of Colby St after reports of shots fired.  Police found Balani's body in the basement suite he was renting and IHIT was called in to the scene.   (LM #41)   Dec 27, 2012   Victim identified

JEREMY MCLELLAN

MATTHEW JOHNATHON HALL

PANAGIOTA ZERBINOS

JANUARY MARIE LAPUZ

JOSEPH ALLEN MARKEL

A 32-year-old man well-known to police was shot and killed in what appears to be a targeted attack.  Police spokesman said the victim was shot at, or outside, a home on the 900-block of Wallace Wynd just after 10am.  He was rushed to hospital but died soon after from his wounds.   An area resident said the victim was shot three times, including in the chest and abdomen.  The area resident said the victim was Joseph Allen Markel who lived at home with his parents.  (LM #32)   Sept 8, 2012   Targeted   Shooting

JAGDIP JOHAL

A man was shot dead Thursday outside a Surrey strip mall in a scene police say had "all the markings" of a targeted hit.  The man was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in a parking lot at King George Boulevard & 68th Ave. At around 2:45pm one or more men approached the vehicle and began shooting.  The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.  Sources identified the victim as Jag Johal, brother of Shminder Singh Johal, who was sentenced to prison in July for his role in a cocaine-smuggling operation.  (LM #31)   IHIT File# 2012-2623   Sept 6, 2012   Targeted shooting 

CHRISTOPHER PAMMENTER

FATEMAH NOROUZY-POORESFAHANY ie Sara Norouzy

IHIT has taken over the probe into human remains found in North Vancouver.  The grisly discovery was made off a gravel foot trail near the 2000-block of Curling Road.  The body was found by a local resident after several neighbours noticed a terrible smell emanating from the area.  Police said due to the level of decomposition of the body, it may take several days until information on the sex or age of the victim is known.  Nov 2014 the body was identified as Iranian national Fatemah Norouzy-Pooresfahany, or Sara Norouzy, 31, who was living in North Vancouver at the time of her murder.   (LM #29)   IHIT File# 2012-2454   Aug 18, 2012    Jane Doe identified   Victim ID'd   IHIT takes over   Human remains  

CHEN LUNG

At 12:35am the Richmond RCMP responded to a 911 call in the 8700-block of Ackroyd Road to assist BC Ambulance Service with an injured male.  The victim, a 38 year old Richmond resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. RONALD WILLIAM MARCH

Shortly after 9pm, a 911 caller reported hearing the sound of screaming coming from the rear lane of 3433 Renfrew St.  Behind the building police found Ronald William March, 57,  who had apparently been stabbed multiple times.  Lance Wraye Standberg, 47, a person of interest has been charged with dangerous driving and fleeing from an officer after a vehicle collided with a police car in East Vancouver early Thursday morning.  (LM #27)   VPD #6   Aug 8, 2012   Victim identified   'Person of interest' charged

RANDY NAICKER

GORDON SPENCER & BRUCE MAYO

Just after 2:30am RCMP received a 911 call to attend a residence in the 6400-block of Glover Road for what was described as a domestic dispute.  RCMP attended and located several individuals outside of a residence in the area. A further search revealed two injured individuals inside the home who appeared to be the victims of gunshot wounds. LIANJIE GUO

Yuan Xi “William” Tang, 25, was found guilty of second-degree murder.  Tang’s mother, Lianjie Guo, 47, went missing during a visit to Canada with her husband in June 2012.  Her badly decomposed body was eventually found in a suitcase, which police believe was dumped off the coast of Richmond and floated to the Sunshine Coast.   June 2012  17 years   Found guilty   Guilty of killing mother

GURBINDER SINGH TOOR

A gangster connected to the embattled Dhak/Duhre crime group was fatally shot outside a busy Port Moody recreation centre.  The victim, Gurbinder Singh Toor, 35, of Squamish had just left his parked vehicle on his way to a floor-hockey game inside the Port Moody Recreation Complex at about 9: 30pm, when he was hit with a shower of bullets.  According to witness reports, about 10 shots were heard, and a dark SUV was seen driving away.   (LM #23)   May 30, 2012   Gang associate shot   Dhak-Duhre gang members attacked

HUONG 'ANDY' TRAN & CHINH DIEM HUYNH

JON BURSTYNSKI

A 52-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly killing a cyclist and crashing her SUV while being trailed by police early Thursday morning.  Jon Burstynski, 36, has been identified as the cyclist. Christine Anne Marchand faces charges.   May 24, 2012

SELVIN KRISHNA

RCMP were called to Ridge Meadows Hospital around 2:30am where the victim was being treated after the fight, which occurred a short time earlier near the intersection of 223rd St & McIntosh Ave.  The victim later died from his injuries. Selvin Krishna, 36, who made the province's most wanted car thief list for the first time in 2006 has been identified as the person who was murdered.   (LM #20)   IHIT File# 2012-1345   May 13, 2012   Identified   Stabbing  

ETHEL FENOTTI

Around 3:30am VPD received a call from a man asking for assistance at a suite on East 12th Ave. VPD members entered the apartment and during a search of the suite, they found an elderly woman deceased.  The woman has been identified as Ethel Fenotti, 72.  Her son Richard Glenn Shields, 50, is charged with second degree murder.  (LM #19)   VPD #5     May 10, 2012   8 years 

NIRMAL BAINS

On May 5, 2012 at 10:30am a deceased 80 year old male was located by his wife in an outbuilding on their property in the 31700-block of Huntingdon Road.  On May 7th, 2012 an autopsy was completed on the victim and it was determined that the he sustained injuries that are consistent with a homicide.  The victim has been identified as Nirmal Bains. (LM #18)   IHIT File# 2012-1286   May 5, 2012  Senior was murdered  

NOEL JACKSON

A 21-year-old man has been identified after a shooting in Surrey.  Members of the Surrey RCMP were called to a residence on the 23434 70th Ave where in the basement they found Noel Jackson dead from gunshot wounds.  Jonathan Michael Kishimoto, 21, and Michael Alexander Ross, 24, have been arrested and charged in the murder.  Feb 2014 Jonathan Michael Kishimoto, who was charged with second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.  (LM #17)    IHIT File# 2012-1236   May 3, 2012   10 years for murder   2 charged   Victim ID'd 

RANJIT CHEEMA

THOMAS GISBY

50-year-old Thomas Gisby was shot twice at close range at a Starbucks in Nuevo Vallarta. TASHINA RAE SUTHERLAND

Tashina Rae Sutherland's body was found by Surrey RCMP after police received a call that a woman in the 10600-block of 138 St needed medical attention. JUSTINE NETHANIEL PO

At approximately 1:10pm the Richmond RCMP received a 911 call of shots fired.  The shooting occurred at the intersection of Katsura St and Ferndale Road outside of an apartment complex and Police believe that after the shooting the male suspect entered a vehicle and fled the area.  The male victim has been identified as Richmond resident, Justine Nethaniel Po, 36.  Justine Nethaniel Po is the second person involved in the murder of Lotus Gang boss Raymond Chan to be murdered in Richmond.  His co-accused Mark James Thrower was shot to death at his apartment in February 2005 - the same day he was to go to trial for killing the high-profile gangster in May 2003.  (LM #14)   IHIT File# 2012-1101  April 18, 2012    Man gunned down

DAVID BOURGEOIS

MAHDI HALANE 

VANCOUVER - The events that led to Mahdi's shooting took place in the wee hours of Oct. 14th, 2006 at and near the Chevron gas station in Cedar Hills.  Mahdi was shot in the neck, right below his right ear. The bullet grazed his left ear on its way out, after smashing his vertebrae.  He spent the rest of his life paralyzed from the neck down, with a ventilation machine breathing for him. CHELSEA ROSE HOLDEN

Shortly after 6am on Monday March 19th, Vancouver Police responded to a call of a stabbing inside the Cobalt Hotel and found Chelsea Rose Holden, 28, inside who had been stabbed.  She was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.  May 2014 Xavier Sacha Gellatly pleaded guilty to manslaugther. JAN ARON KORINTH

Just after 11:00pm on Sat March 17, 2012, Surrey RCMP responded to a 911 from a male claiming he had been stabbed. Police and EHS attended the area however the victim was not immediately located.  Several minutes later a call was received from a male in a residence in the 11000-block of 168th St requesting police attend for an apparent attack on the tenant in the basement suite.  Evidence inside the residence suggested a significant struggle took place and a blood trail led officers to a nearby location where the body of Jan Aron Korinth, 26, was located.  (LM #11)   IHIT File#2012-772  March 17, 2012   Stabbing

KOREY TYLER KELLY

On March 09, 2012 just before 9:30pm the Langley RCMP received a 911 call of a man shot in the area of 16 Avenue and 272 Street.  Langley RCMP were reroute when they were flagged down by two males at 24 Ave and 272 St. The two males led the officers to a vehicle where an unresponsive male was located.  The deceased has been identified as Korey Tyler Kelly, 25.  Apparently Kelly was part of a group trying to break into and rob a marijuana grow operation.  (LM #10)   IHIT File #2012-660  March 9, 2012   2 charged for grow-op   Shooting  

KACEY ROGERS

On Sunday, just after 10:30pm, Kacey Rogers, 31, was fatally shot in his home in the 14000-block of Grosvenor Road.  The shooting was witnessed by an 18-year-old woman who apparently lived with the victim in a duplex.  Russell Bidesi, 21, of Surrey and Joshua Martinez, 19, of New Westminster were arrested on Feb 28 and charged with second-degree murder.  June 2013 Fabien Luther Marcus LydeIn, 19, was sentenced to 6 years for his role in the home invasion.  Sept 2014 Lydein pleaded guilty to manslaughter.  May 2015 Bidesi was convicted of manslaughter.  Feb 2017 Bidesi was sentenced to 14 years in prison.  (LM #9)   Feb 26, 2012   14 years   Bidesi convicted   2nd murder for Bidesi   Lydeln pleas guilty to manslaughter    6 years

JIMMY CHAU

JENNY LE WONG

Police are only saying Jasmine Onland suffered critical injuries inside a home she rented in the 3200-block of E 8th Ave on Feb. 13.  BC Coroner is reported to have ruled the death a suicide.   Feb 13, 2012    Mysterious death   

BRANDON JAMES HOWSON

A man connected to the drug trade in Maple Ridge has been identified as the person who was found dead in a Pitt Meadows field on Tuesday.  Brandon Howson, 26, was discovered by a passerby around 10:30am, lying face down in a cranberry field at the end of 224th St by 144th Ave.  He lived nearby.  Charged with Second Degree Murder is Maple Ridge resident Adam Deboo, 33.    (LM #6)   IHIT File #2012-299   Jan 31, 2012   Victim identified  

JOHN ALEXANDER

On January 26, 2012 at 1:30pm the Richmond RCMP received a 911 call to attend the 11900-block of Aztec St.   RCMP attended the scene and located two individuals, husband and wife, in medical distress.  The male was pronounced deceased at the scene and the women was taken to the hospital to be treated as she was conscious but incoherent.  Jo Anne Alexander, the wife of John Alexander, 61, who died of a head injury, has now been charged with second-degree murder.  John Alexander had an extensive medical history including brain surgery to deal with epileptic seizures. SEAN BEAVER

SANDIP DUHRE

A well-known gangster was killed in a targeted shooting at a busy downtown Vancouver restaurant.  Sandip "Dip" Duhre, one of the three Duhre brothers.  VPD were called to the restaurant in the Sheraton Wall Centre at 1088 Burrard St shortly after 8:45pm.  In 2013 an alleged contract killer accused in a fatal shooting was charged with first-degree murder after a manhunt that ended when the suspect was stopped on a traffic violation in Greece.  Police said that Rabih Alkhalil, 25, will be extradited back to Canada to face prosecution in the death of Sandip Duhre.  Evidence linking Dean Michael Wiwchar to the 2012 Sandip Duhre murder, as well as to other murders, was laid out in court documents used to get authorization for the wiretap and search warrants.  Wiwchar has never been charged in the Jan. 17, 2012 murder of Duhre in the lobby of the Sheraton Wall Centre.  Wiwchar, who is facing a first-degree murder charge in a June 2012 slaying (of John Raposo) in Toronto's Little Italy, is also a suspect in the Nov. 6, 2011 Vancouver murder of Axel Curtis, as well as the shooting of Michael Linn on Dec. 13, 2011.  (LM #3)   VPD #1   Jan 17, 2012   Indo-Canadian gangster   Charges laid in gang slaying   Suspect charged   Charges laid in gang slaying   Dhak Duhre Gang   Gangs    Dhak-Duhre gang members attacked

SALIH ABDULAZIZ SAHBAZ

Salih Abdulaziz Sahbaz, 37, spent much of the last 3 years in Mexico and was the key cartel contact for the UN gang.  But he also returned regularly to Surrey, where he had family ties.  Sahbaz was found early Monday at an intersection in Culiacan, the capital of cartel-plagued Sinaloa state. RYAN SAINT-ANGE

On Jan 14, 2012 Abbotsford Police Department attended the 27700-block of 56th Ave for a 911 call.  The victim has been identified as 21 year old Ryan Saint-Ange. PATRICK MARTIN
