GURPREET GILL
Jaswant Singh Gill, 40, was
arrested Feb 14, 2013 and charged with second-degree murder in the death
of his 33-year-old wife, Gurpreet Gill. The woman's remains were
found in Richmond, BC, in 2006, but remained unidentified by police
until Feb 2013 using DNA evidence. April 2017
a jury found Jaswant Singh Gill guilty of first-degree murder for the
death of an acquaintance - Thomas Eldon Akerman - and guilty of
manslaughter for the death of his wife, Gurpreet Gill. Akerman was
killed in the parking lot of the Bonsor Recreation centre in Burnaby, BC
on Dec 23, 1994. He was found shot inside his car.
The murder was a cold case for many years, and police only began
to pursue Gill as a suspect after the death of his wife in 2006.

CHON KUAN “Sam” SIO On December 31st, 2006 at 1937 hours, 911 operators received a report of a male passed out in a red 2003 Infinity G35 located at the rear parking lot of the A&W Restaurant located at the corner of Wilson Ave and Shaughnessy St in Port Coquitlam. IHIT has forwarded second degree murder charges in connection to stabbing death of 17-year-old Burnaby resident Chon Kuan “Sam” Sio to Port Coquitlam Crown Counsel. TODD MCLEAN On Saturday at approximately 0040 New Westminster police responded to a 911 call in the 800 block of Agnes Street. Once at the scene it was determined that a male had been taken to Royal Columbian Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. The investigation to date has revealed that the victim Todd McLean, 17, of New Westminster, was shot in the chest at close range. NAME NOT RELEASED A 28 year-old Surrey woman was found deceased at the 6200 Block of Grant in Burnaby. An autopsy was performed today and the cause of death will be determined once the lab results are in which will take some time. This incident is still being investigated as suspicious. The male that was in custody for this incident has since been released and no charges have been laid. The female’s name will not be released at this time. JOHN LATHAN Burnaby RCMP were called to a home in the 3800 block of Francis St in North Burnaby. IHIT are working in Burnaby on the murder of John Lathan, 61. ELVAN PRAKASH JATTAN Surrey Detachment received a report of a found body at the rear of Creekside Elementary School located at 13838 - 91st Ave, Surrey BC. The deceased was situated at the rear of the school near the playground equipment. Students on their way to school noticed the body and reported it to the School staff. The victim has been identified as Elvan Prakash Jattan, 23, of Surrey. A Young Offender was arrested on November 14th, 2006 for the murder of Jattan. WES & GLENNIS EDWARDS Wes and Glennis Edwards burned bodies were found Saturday morning in the charred remains of their white, two-storey house on the Cheam reserve in Agassiz. The IHIT is involved in the case, but police could not confirm the cause of the fire or whether the couple was dead before it began. NAVRETT WARAICH Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of domestic violence in the area of 70th Ave & 123 St. A South Asian woman, identified as Navreet Waraich was located and indications are that she had suffered multiple stabs wounds. She was treated on scene by ambulance personnel and then taken to an area hospital. She has succumb to her injuries. Her husband Jatinder Waraich has been charged with second-degree murder. NAME NOT RELEASED Police are investigating the murder of a man who was beaten and stabbed Thursday in the Downtown Eastside. Witnesses watched three men chase the 25-year-old victim to Pender and Gore where he was stabbed. Police say David Mitchell, 25, was
seriously injured on Wednesday, Oct. 25, "during a severe assault"
inside a residence in the 11000 block of Ravine Road. The
assault on Mitchell was deliberate and is not believed to have been an
act of random violence.
Nov 2014 IHIT announced that 4
men were arrested. Khalid Damien Arnaout, 35, is charged with
second-degree murder. Charles Vincent Chambers, 32, Michael Ludwig Yost,
34, and Kevin Alexander Pigott, 32, are each charged with manslaughter
and accessory after the fact to murder.

PARMAJIT SINGH GHUMAN The double shooting in a car on a residential street that shocked a neighbourhood in Port Coquitlam, B.C., appears to be a case of domestic violence, the RCMP said Friday afternoon. Police said they believe Parmajit Singh Ghuman, 40, of Port Coquitlam shot his estranged wife while she was driving on Thursday afternoon and then turned the gun on himself. Both were critically wounded. Ghuman died a short time later, while Gurjeet Kaur Ghuman, also of Port Coquitlam, survived. MANJIG PANGHALI Delta police responded to a report of a charred body found off Delta Port Way in South Delta on Oct. 23, 2006. On Oct. 26 autopsy results confirm that the body is that of 40-year-old Manjit Panghali who has been missing since Oct. 18. March 2007 Mukhtiar Panghali, her husband was charged with second-degree murder. His brother Sukhvinder is facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact. ALLAN ERIC DEGENSTEIN Surrey RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance to the basement suite of 14369 100th Avenue, in Surrey. An hour later, a call was received from Surrey Memorial Hospital of persons with life threatening injuries. As a result of the injuries sustained, the RCMP confirms that Allan Eric Degenstein, 26, a Surrey resident, has died. Two other persons were injured in the same incident, and have been identified as Eric Briones, 25, and Jayson Pacatang, 28. Charges have now been laid against William Robles, 25, of Surrey. SHELDON BLUECLOUD At approximately 7:18pm, Abbotsford Police responded to the report of shots being fired in the area of the 1200 block of Peardonville Road in Abbotsford. Police located a deceased adult male in his 20’s inside a parked vehicle in the area. Police believe that this shooting is not a random incident. Beach beneath trail number 3. The body was discovered by members
of the public walking along the shoreline. The investigation has
determined foul play. The victim is described as a male, in good
physical shape, good dental hygiene, age range of 30 to 50 years old,
balding and may have kept his head shaved, distinctive goatee with
patches of hair on either side of the chin separated in the middle.

BRANDYN DIRIENZO At approximately 8:00 pm a 20 year old Chilliwack male, Brandyn Dirienzo entered the Evergreen apartment complex on Bole Avenue, in Chilliwack. Dirienzo was not seen again by his family or friends and was initially reported missing to the Chilliwack RCMP. TUONG NGO Tuong Ngo, 92, was apparently hit by a vehicle eastbound on Southeast Marine Drive in the University Endowment lands some time before 3:50 a.m. Wednesday. He was lying on the concrete when struck again by a cabbie, who reported the crash. Ngo, who had dementia, was reported missing from his Chinatown care home at 6 p.m. that night. SHELLEY LYNN DEVOE At approximately 0825 hours on September 22, 2006 Coquitlam RCMP received a 911 call from a person who had discovered the body of a female on the 5000 block of Harper Road in Coquitlam. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, police are unable to provide much in the way of details regarding the incident. The victim has been identified as forty-four-year-old Shelley Lynn Devoe of Surrey. She was also known to go by the name of Shelley Lynn Russell. DAYLE WENDLL PAULL The RCMP are investigating a homicide after a man was found badly beaten in a wooded area in North Vancouver that is populated by homeless people and squatters. JOB CLARK Job Clark's body was buried in the small aboriginal cemetery of the Cowichan band in Duncan - the victim of an apparently senseless murder early Monday morning near the Value Village shopping centre in Burnaby. IGOR AVETISYAN The North Vancouver RCMP received complaints of an altercation at the 100 block of West 5th Street, North Vancouver. A male was taken to Lions Gate Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Igor Avetisyan of Vancouver. MICHAEL MINH TIEN NGO Vancouver Police said that police don't know if the dead men were involved in a shoot-out with each other that resulted in their deaths or if they had been killed by a third party. Ngo was seen leaving the scene of the shooting apparently injured in a dark four-door sedan similar to a Honda Accord. He appears to have been driven to the dead-end street and dumped. NAME NOT RELEASED Officers responding to a report of gunfire in the 1700-block of E.55 Ave. A 22-year-old Burnaby man, whose name police are withholding at the request of his family, was found lying on East 55th outside David Thompson secondary surrounded by spent cartridge casings at about 1:30am. DARRIN HAINES On Friday, June 30, 2006 at approximately 01:15am, RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance of some kind at an address in the 2900-block of Glen Drive, Coquitlam. A 43 year old male had been injured and has succumbed to those injuries. The deceased male and the potential suspect did know each other. This was not a random incident. DAVID HIGGINS A father and daughter's holiday to Vancouver ended with cries of grief on a downtown street as the dad was killed in a crosswalk by a hit-and-run driver. The driver was collared 10 minutes later after a witness chased him through the city, at one point boxing in the fugitive's car with his own. LORNA ULMER-BILLY Brian Kenneth Widman, 20, was arrested following
a 911 call on June 3, 2006 reporting a young girl was in cardiac arrest
in the basement suite of 1307 Charter Hill Dr. in Coquitlam.
When firefighters and paramedics arrived, they found Lorna
Ulmer-Billy, 15, lying on the floor, unresponsive and not breathing,
with red marks on her neck. Attempts to resuscitate her failed, and
police arrested Widman shortly after.

TOMMY HO SING CHAN The 30-year old victim of a shooting earlier this month at the former Richard’s on Richards nightclub in Vancouver has died; becoming the city's 14th homicide of the year. Tommy Ho Sing Chan had been on life-support since he was gunned down on the dance floor during a CD release party. Vancouver Police have confirmed he had a criminal record dating back to 1996. Before he was shot on May 5th, he was facing charges of trafficking cocaine. On May 4th in 2004, two young men were shot and killed at Chan's Vancouver home. RONG LILLY LI A 29-year-old Vancouver man is facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of a woman who disappeared from outside a popular Richmond casino earlier this year. MARGARET REDFORD Langley RCMP responded to a complaint of a found body in a creek at the 273 hundred block of Fraser Hwy, Langley B.C. An autopsy was performed on May 23rd, 2006 at Royal Columbian Hospital. The autopsy revealed the death was the result of Foul Play. The victim is identified as 47-year-old Margaret Redford, Aldergrove. Davey Mato Butorac, 31, has been held in custody since being charged in January 2008 with the murders of 50-year-old Sheryl Lynn Koroll of Langley, and Gwendolyn Jo Lawton, 46, of Abbotsford. ADELA, EDITA, BENEDICTA, STEPHANE ETIBAKO & ASHLEY SINGH Members of the Etibako family perished in a deliberately set fire Monday. Mother, Adela, and her three youngest children Edita, 12, Benedicta, 9 and Stephane, 8 were all killed. A fifth person, who has not yet been identified, also died in the fire. When Adela Etibako and her children fled deadly political turmoil in Congo, she willingly traded a relatively affluent life for a public housing project in Vancouver and a job as a night cleaner at a shopping mall. Etibako came to Canada as a refugee in 1997 after the overthrow of Congolese dictator Mobutu Sese Seko put her husband, prominent businessman Eddy Etibako, in the regime’s sights. SUKHJIT JOHAL At approximately 1:00 P.M. on Friday the 12th of May 2006 Richmond RCMP responded to the Nickels Custom Cabinets at 6960 Graybar Road, Richmond, B.C. It had been reported that a dispute had broken out between two co-workers. Police found Sukhjit Johal, 30, of Surrey had been seriously injured as a result of the altercation. Dismembered body found in a bag A police diver scoured the dangerous waters off Vancouver's New Brighton Park after the discovery of a human body in a bag in the area. TAMMY KAREN FROST A 1992 Honda Prelude which had been traveling eastbound on Luckakuck Way drifted onto the shoulder and collided with a cyclist who was traveling on the shoulder westbound. The vehicle was being driven by a new driver who is a 17 year old female from Chilliwack. It appears she was distracted by a cellular phone. ROBERT & MARGARET JAMIESON Burnaby RCMP were called to a residence in the 4300-block of Southwood St in Burnaby after both a man and a woman were found deceased. Upon entry, the bodies of Robert and Margaret Jamieson, ages 82 and 79 respectively were located in the bedroom of the residence suffering from fatal gun shot wounds. Forensic examination has now led investigators to the conclusion that the deaths were the result of a murder/suicide and no other persons are believed to have been involved. GLEN ALEXANDER ANTHONY Surrey RCMP say foul play is suspected after a man's body was found in Tannery Park Monday afternoon. Police say a man walking his dog in the North Surrey park came across the body. JACK MAURICE On Sunday April 2, 2006, Vancouver Police responded to a call for assistance at Room # 4, 222 Keefer Street in Vancouver. The resident/victim, 54 year old Jack Maurice, was discovered with head injuries and was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. It was determined that his injuries were caused by a blunt instrument and the victim told witnesses that he had been assaulted. SHAWN THOMAS KIDD At around 4:00 pm, RCMP Surrey responded to a complaint of a disturbance which subsequently became a shooting in the area of a condominium complex at 150th St & 107 Ave in the north area of the city. During the dispute between at least two males, one was shot. On April 10, 2006 charges were laid in the shooting death Shawn Thomas Kidd, 26. TROY LOREE Troy Loree, 20, was crossing the street to grab a snack when he was cut down by a hit-and-run driver. Delta police are looking for the driver of a newer-model Honda who took off after a fatal accident Sunday evening at Scott Road and 64th Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday. SUSAN VICTORIA TAIT Burnaby RCMP were called and told that there was a deceased human being at the Grandview Motel and Trailer Park. Investigators arrived and confirmed that indeed there was a deceased person inside one of the motel units. Shortly after the discovery of the body, three Burnaby residents were detained the motel. A 33 year old Burnaby woman and two men, aged 50 and 37. The deceased was identified as Vancouver resident Susan Victoria Tait, 45 years of age. Tait was known to police, and frequented the downtown eastside of Vancouver. Although investigators aren't releasing the cause of Tait's death, they say no charges are pending. about 100 metres from the party house. He died in an ambulance on
the way to hospital.
Several
people were taken into custody at the scene for public intoxication.

HARMINDER KHOSAH Late in the evening of February 13, RCMP responded to a call of an altercation at a residence near 48th Ave and 151 Street Surrey. Upon attendance police secured the scene and located one of the male participants with very serious injuries. A short time later he succumbed to these injuries. MARK ALLEN BOWE Vancouver Police have now identified their second murder victim of the year. 40 year old Mark Allen Bowe was shot in the head near west Hastings and Abbott on Monday night and died later in hospital. ANTHONY ROBERT DAKOTA At about 05:15 hours, Chilliwack RCMP and Chilliwack Fire Dept, responded to a residential house fire on Creamery Road in Chilliwack. Once the fire was extinguished and a search was conducted a body was located inside. Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that was associated to the occupant of the residence. The vehicle has not been seen since the fire. JEFFERY SABINE Jeffrey Ashmore, 26, was convicted by a jury after a trial in New Westminster for the murder of Jeffrey Sabine, 26. Beverly Earhart, 43, is also accused of plotting the first-degree murder of her common-law husband, Sabine. Earhart's daughter, Ashleigh Hiebert, was originally charged with first-degree murder for assisting her boyfriend, Ashmore, but later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. ROGER LUU Richmond Mounties are continuing their search for suspects in a vicious stabbing that has left one man dead and another fighting for his life. Investigators are still piecing together what happened at Aberdeen Centre. TRACY ANN GUTHRIE Police have identified Vancouver's first murder victim of the year, a woman who was found dead in bushes at Vancouver City Hall on Monday morning. 39-year-old Tracy Ann Guthrie of Surrey had walked away from nearby Vancouver General Hospital where she was a patient. Guthrie was last seen at VGH on Saturday night. She had walked away wearing green hospital pants, a beige T-shirt and socks. Her body was spotted by a passer-by in the small park in front of city hall at about 9:30 Monday morning. Police have not disclosed the cause of death. GARRY GLENN HARDER On Saturday evening January 28th just after 9:00PM members of the Surrey RCMP responded to a man down on 103A Avenue near 144 Street. The body of a male was located and transported by ambulance to Surrey Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have identified the victim as Garry Glen Harder, 45. Steven Patrick Iyoupe, 26, has been charged with manslaughter. SHAOXIN ZHANG Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of two persons shot at 3355 North Road, Burnaby. Witnesses have told police investigators that two men were approached by three males in a vehicle described as a Toyota Camry. It was reported that some sort of argument ensued and firearm shots were heard. The suspects were seen leaving the area south bound on North Rd. One of the victims, Shaoxin Zhang, 19 yrs., died in hospital as a result of his injuries. On February 8, 2006 a Canada Wide Warrant of Arrest was issued for Lee-Chia "Kenny" Weng, 28, for 2nd Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. Huan Sheng "Leo" Tang, 23, was arrested for his involvement in the murder of Zhang and was subsequently charged with being an Accessory After the Fact to Murder. BRIAN SINCLAIR On January 20, 2006 shortly before midnight, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment in the 500 block of Shaw Avenue, Coquitlam. Investigation revealed Brian Sinclair, 29, had been attacked in the building. NAME NOT RELEASED An altercation between two men in the 500 block of Beatty St. ended when one of the men pushed the other down a flight of stairs to a parkade. The 52-year-old Vancouver man suffered head injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital and later released. On January 13th the manager of the Sunrise Hotel called police after he was unable to wake up one of his tenants. The man, who was the victim in the January 10th assault, was deceased.
